-ment due notice by it be given to the Church,
of any appointment made by Trustees before the General
Assembly meets, whereas, under the alternative method,
the Assembly might be, as it had again and again,
been called upon to appoint at an hour's notice. This
proposal was accepted by the General Assembly.

In the Theological Faculty, the Staff was really
too small to do the work. It was represented to the
General Assembly that although Professor Ross had been
appointed Professor of Apologetics and New Testament
Criticism, an additional professor was now urgently
needed. One gentleman Mr. Hugh Waddell formerly
of South Monoghan, now of Peterboro had offered $5000
for the endowment of another chair if the necessary amount
could be raised, another had promised $100 a year for
five years, and some smaller sums had be promised,
and it was hoped that a strong appeal from the Church
might be sufficient to raise the amount still needed.

Dr. Thompson of Sarnia rendered assistance to the
College during this winter by a five weeks course on
Homiletics and Pastoral Theology, which was much
appreciated by the students and for which he refused
to accept any renumeration. The Board of Trustees
\passed a vote of Thanks for his disinterested kindness,
at their annual meeting.
