during this session was 533 against 456 the
previous year.

Great interest attached to the opening of the
department of Practical Science which took place in
October, with Professor Dupuis as Dean of the Faculty.

During the summer Professor Dupuis had visited
many schools on the Continent and take note of
the provisions necessary to be made for proper equipment.
Many donations were recived in the
course of the winter for the laboratory and workshops,
among which were the following, a portable forge: a
large assortment of the best carpenters' and machinists'
tools: a four horse power motor: a blacksmiths' bench vise:
a valuable turbine and other indispensable articles.
