Faculty of Arts should be appointed and the name of
Professor Fletcher, MA was suggested for the position
with an annual allowance of $200 a year. This
appointment was made by unanimous consent.
Several minor appointments were also found necessary
owing to the increasing numbers of the students which
rendered additional assistance necessary especially for those
professors having junior classes which were compulsory on
all students. An additional Fellow was appointed in
Moderns at $150. A Mechanical Instructor in the
workshops of Practical Science also at $450, and a tutor
in Animal Biology at $75. Every succeeding session
demanded more help on the teaching staff commensuate
with the growth of the University. As usual the
question of ways and means was brought before the
Board. Decrease in the amount reeived as interest
from the Jubilee Fund was reported. It was agreed
that payments should cease on the insurance on the
life of Principal Grant, which had been continued now
for some years, and that application should be made
for a paid up policy of $30,000 in accordance with the
agreement made with the L&L Insurance Coy.

An increase of $200 a year was given to Professors
Shortt, Dyde and Knight and also to the Treasurer's
salary. But few legacies or donations
in money were received during this year.
