appointments in the Medical Faculty, and at the April
Meeting of the Board, the following appointments, recommended
by the Committee were confirmed, namely Dr Garrett,
Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology: Dr. W.G. Anglin, Professor
of Clincial Surgery; Dr John Herald, Professor of Clincial Medicine;
Dr John Campbell, Professor of Materia Medica; Dr H.T.
Connell, Professor Sanitary Science; and Dr V. O. Sullivan,
Demonstrator of Anatomy.

In other ways as well as by death, Queen's
this winter lost friends and helpers not easily replaced. It
was with sincere regret that the authorities received the resignation
of Mr. John Cormack, who for thirty five years
had filled the post of janitor to to the college, but whose
health was now such, as to make it impossible for him
to continue at his post, although during the past year or
two additional assistance had been given him. He carried
with him the regret of all, both students and professors,
who had known him. The Trustees, at their annual
meeting, passed a resolution expressive of their appreciation
of Mr. Cormacks' services.

Yet another link with the
past was severed in the course of the ensuing summer
by Dr Bell's resignation of the registrarship, a post
which had become, even with the help of an assistant,
too much for his years and failing strength.
