would be supplied.

The Annual Convocation
took place as usual on the evening of the 15th of
October, when on behalf of the University, the Registrar
presented the Chancellor with an address congratulating
him on the honour conferred upon
him by Her Majesty in granting him the title
of Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael
and St. George.

The ladies who succeeded in
the previous year in raising $1500 for the gymnasium
and workshops, this session carried on the work and
got up a course of lectures in Convocation Hall for
the public which was much appreciated.

There was again this year a discussion
relative to the salaries of Professors Mowat and
Ferguson, though the question had assumed a
somewhat different aspect. These professors had
commuted with the Temporalities Board and received
a Capital sum in satisfaction of their annuities.
Their salaries were therefore reduced by
the annual sums formerly received for them by the
Board. At the Annual Trustee Meeting
a letter was read from Messrs. Mowat,
Langton and Co. Solicitors Toronto on
