during this session. Dr. W.T. Connell was appointed
to the Chair of Medical Jurisprudence at the
annual meeting in addition to those of Pathology
and Sanitary Science. At the same time it was
decided to hold a separate Convocation for the granting
of Medical degrees, as the classes in Medicine
closed earlier than those in other departments, and
the medical students by the new arrangement would
be enabled to disperse at the close of their session.

It was also decided that for the future the general
Convocation should take place on the first
Wednesday in May instead of the last Wednesday
in April.

Professor Macnaughton at the close
of the session applied to the Board for leave of
absence for a year to prosecute his studies abroad
offering to give half of his salary to pay for a suit-
able substitute during his absence. The leave was
granted, and Professor Macnaughton left for Germany,
immediately after the examinations.

The honorary degree of D.D. was bestowed
on Rev. Geo. J. Low, Rector of Almonte, and Canon
of the Cathedral, Ottawa, and on Rev. Dr. Ross
of the Presbyterian College of Montreal, and
that of L.L.D. on Sir Wilfrid Laurier,
Premier of the Dominion and on Charles
