warranted such action being taken. Professor Shortt
resigned the office of Librarian, and Miss Lois
Saunders who had for the past year been acting as
Assistant Librarian was appointed Librarian, with
a salary of $400 per annum.

It was announced to the Trustees
that over $8000 had been subscribed to add to
the endowment of the Chair of Mental Philosophy
and it was therefore decided that Professor Dyde's
salary should be increased to $1800 per annum, pending
the time, now it was hoped not very far distant,
when the Chair should be established on the same
plane of $2000 a year of salary as those held by almost
all his Colleagues. This spring saw an important
change made in the Chair of Orientals and O.T. Exegesis,
held by Professor Mowat for forty two years.

The question of the appointment of an assistant and
successor to Professor Mowat was brought up at the
Trustee meeting, and it was decided after much discussion,
that, in view of the importance of the subjects
embraced in the chair, and Dr. Mowat's advanced
years, the time had come when the interests of the
University, and especially of the Theological Faculty required
addiditonal assistance in this department.
