Dr. Mowat's salary should be available towards the
salary of such an assistant and professor. It was
accordingly resolved that $1000 out of Dr. Mowat's
salary of $2250 should be so appropriated and the
Rev. W.G. Jordan, D.D. was appointed Assistant and
Successor to Dr. Mowat in the Chair of Orientals
and O.T. Exegesis, at a salary of $1200 a year, his duties
to commence in the following October. This

in the previous session. It was also agreed to
continue Dr. Mowat's old salary for the year 1899-1900.

Steps were also taken towards the often

by the Board that the additional Professor in Theology
repeatedly authorized by the General Assembly should be
appointed not later than at the next annual meeting of
the Board. The Board therefore authorized the Principal
to give all the time he could spare to raising
the endowment and the following committee was
appointed namely, - The Chancellor, Dr. Barclay,
Dr. Millligan, Dr. Campbell (Renfrew), Dr. Herridge,
Mr. Macgillivray and Mr. Mackie to co-operate with
the Pincipal with power to take such steps as should
seem advisable and to submit a list of
names from which the Board might make
