A postal card just received asks me if I ever sent on to you a letter written by Ms. Stauton in answer to yours to be of Aug. 2d-I thought it a copy of what she had sent to you in reply-and have made haste to dig it out of my large pile of letters received & hastily read & laid away for leisure to properly attend to-such a whirl has been my life the last five months-It now looks as if more quiet times awaiten me, but who can tell what things lie by near in the unseen future-My brother-the Col. wo was shot at Leavenworth last May-has just left us-he a his wife, a my younger brother, who has nursed him all through his terrible ordeal have been with us the last three weeks-, my brother youngest child of 2 years-that I brought [illegible] with me last July-has gone with them-so we are all elora
