...seven years in the Mina Mosque which had been built for his own use and is the smallest Mosque in existence. When he died he asked to be brought to a part of the palace where he could gaze every minute on the beautiful Taj. A fair sight it was and perhaps he knew the world would recognize its grandness some day. In this great palace in the Mutiny (Sepoy Rebellion) of 1857, 6000 people were gathered for safety and could easily be accomodated. Not only did the king and queen play checkers here but from the Jasmine tower, they looked down into a court where elephants and tigers fought, and in a little corridor containing many turns and doors they played hide and seek.
