...one. We had to get off our train and go on a ferry which goes not across but up the Ganges to the other side and then we got our sleeper at 10 pm. We had to rise at 5:30 to get ready to change again for the narrow [illegible] which climbs the mountains. That takes about five hours. The trip is a beautiful one, the road winding in and out, always climbing higher. We arrived at noon and found a poor hotel where we had to climb three flights of stairs to our room. We therefore staid only two days. I wove woolen underskirt and overshirt, a wool suit with a thick waist, and had a hot water bottle for bed. The change was too sudden. Dar...
