Dr. J. W. Campbell, Professor of Materia Medica and Pharmacy;
Dr. James Third, Professor of Practice of Medicine;
Dr. J. C. Connell, Professor of Opthalmology, Rhinology & Otology;
Dr. J. Wood, Assistant Professor in Obstetrics, and Lecturer
in Paediatrics; Dr. E. Ryan, Associate Professor of Clinical
Surgery and Clinical Medicine.

The above amended Constitution of the Medical Faculty
was not only an important step in smoother working
relations between the University and the Faculty,
but also in the greater efficiency of the Faculty itself.
Up to date the study of Medicine in Queen's had a
somewhat chequered career. For many years the
teaching staff were drawn from the medical
practitioners of Kingston, strong and capable men, but
too few to handle the instruction required in a
rapidly advancing science. In no branch was there
a full-time instructor. And when the Faculty
became the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons,
affiliated with the University, the good old staff
was still in control, but no striking advance was made.
There were several handicaps difficult to overcome,
insufficient accomodation; poor laboratory appliances;
a scant Library; and insufficient clinical material.
Yet, from the first, good, solid work was done, but
the time had come for some changes. In the later
