at all events. Thsi meant that no free pensions would be available
for Professors Watson, Macgillivray, Waddell, Jordan,
and Miss Saunders, senior members of the staff.

The Finance and Estates Committee was much gratified
to learn that good progress was made in behalf of the
Students War Memorial. The Committee would give joint
and personal assistance in furthering so commendable a
project, but could promise no help from the funds of the
University. The cause was most worthy, and there was
not the slightest doubt that private subscriptions would
meet the financial requirements.

An item of more than passing interest was the receipt
of $6,000.00 through President Tory of Alberta University
for a scholarship fund to be known as the "Khaki University
and Young Men's Christian Association Memorial Fund".
The scholarship were intended for undergraduates
with preferences given to the sons and daughters of the
soldiers of the great war. Meantime, the University
authorized the use of the Fund for loans to soldier
students.

A new feature in connection with the University's
oversight, and helpful spirit ws the organization of
an Employment Bureau to find work for students during
vacation. The Bureau was under the direction of so
competent a body as the Engineering Society. Its purpose
was already more than justified by results, and for
