Your Excellency,

Nearly four years ago The Hannibal Club inaugurated
a canvass through the country to create a sentiment in behalf
of the party of which you are the distinguished leader.

Its members labored unceasingly with the race to break the yoke
of Republicanism, divide the vote, and restore the party of
Grover Cleveland to power.

When your name was first presented to the American
Constituency for nomination as president, we labored for the
cause you espoused in the hope of aiding in our small sphere
your nomination and after that your election. The task was a
pleasing one for we believed we were right and all labored for
you from the highest motives that good citisenship admits.

The criticism for the part we played was great and we
were condemned as traitors to the race by its staunch colored
Republicans for acting as our conscience dictated.

The great political battle of 1912 was fought and your
arms were victorious. The part we took is known of all men of
political organization. We enlisted with the delight of
