Hon. Woodrow Wilson,
President.

My dear sir:

For 14 years, as a student under the tutorage
of that most estimable gentleman and statesman, Wm. Jennings
Bryan, I have been both a consistent and a persistent party
organizer among the voters of my race, so that theseprinciples
of good Government, with human justice, spoken of by Mr. Bryan,
might attain.

And now, Mr. President, that the mantle of
leadership has been thrown about you even by Mr. Bryan himself,
those who have had unalterable confidence in him are just as
hopeful as to the outcome of your Administration. And we are
critically observing its trend. Many of us are highly pleased
with your commercial policies which tend to serve indescriminate-
ly the rank and file of Americans.

As a promoter and well-wisher of Democratic
success I am interested in whatever may have a bearing on the
election of our future standard bearers; and it should be
sufficient to say when done, "We have given the country a good
tariff and a better financial system", and that should commend
us to the voters, but, though we may regret it, patronage shall
not be forgotten by the politician, and he will not fail to make
