Dear Sir:-

Yours of recent date received.
Replying thereto, beg to state, that a large nmber of
colored citizens in various states of the Union, for the
past three months, have urged me to call the President's
attention, through you, to the condition of the colored
democrats, and the urging need of a loyal negro democratic
association, to offset the unwarranted damaging attacts,
upon the President, and our national administration, by the
Regular and Progressive Republicans; and the old line, and
disgruntled Democrats, of both races.

I hesitated, until convinced that further delay would
endanger our cause in New York and New Jersey, at the
election in November. Whatever I may say, can be VERIFIED
at any time; as the information was received from the most
authentic sorce, supported by positive proof.

The attitude of some of the Negro candidates for office
under our national administration, and their followers,
completely distroyed, the usefulness of the National Colored
Democratic League; thus leaving us without a national asso-
