honest and deserving Colored Men who took an active part in the
campaigns. It would I am sure relieve a situation truely embarrass-
ing to us. As we are charged with betraying our race into the
hands of the enimy. If such positions could be given us, say in
States where the Colored vote is a factor. It would place us in
a better light before our people, and act as an object lesson to
those who are decrying the President as being unfair to his
Colored Followers. In my capacity as Secretary of the Colored Or-
ganization (The National Colored Democratic League) That had
charge of the work done among the Colored people during the cam-
paign. I am enabled to gauge the sentiments and feelings of the
rank and file of the members of the organization. I am positive
that my suggestions would give us renewed courage to fight on
in a cause that we feel will in a measure ameliorate the polit-
ical antagognism so evident in the Democratic Party against my
race. I am laying this matter before you, knowing that the
Presidents arduous duties precludes his being able to give
matters of this kind the time necessary to its solution.

And I am asking that you will give me a few minute of your time
at your earliest conveience, to more fully lay the matter before
you.
