THE WHITE HOUSE
DEC 4 1913
RECEIVED

152

December 3, 1913.
Hon. Joseph P. Tumulty,
Secretary to the President,
White House,
Washington, D. C.

Dear Mr. Tumulty:—
The President's message is
indeed a forceful and logical document. It can be readily
read and fully understood and appreciated by all the
citizens of our country. It being further evidence of
his wonderful learning and familiarity with our govern-
ment and its people. No doubt you know that Congressman
Kinkead with myself spoke in New York on Sunday last.
The Congressman speech has made a very good impression
upon the colored citizens of New York. I thought to sug-
gest for your consideration, that I be permitted to
arrange similar meetings in as many large cities as I
can, and have Congressman Kinkead speak along the same
line that he spoke in New York, I will accompany him.
I think in this way we can create a very different feel-
ing among the colored citizens of the United States,
towards our national administration.

Very sincerely yours.
