certain amount of negro artilery now seem the ripe time for such
under the democrat administration. I am young negro man who
love his country as well as any nationality, and hope we will
never have to go down in defeat by no army or foreign foe. I
merely speaking in time of peace that this great mistake might
ne remided so if military training in time of peace is good for
the white it ought to be good for the colored as well as the
eye of the negro is watching such. I will close,now is the time
to make us feel that we are part of this great state and nation
and militarism in time of peace so when and if we ever have to
bear arms against any foreign foe that we can well feel that
we were considered in time of peace in order that this little
spark of patriotism may never go out from one of your most abliest
obedient citizens of this great nation, a young negro man
Irving Appling. Thank you for your consideration at your earliest

May God bless this great nation, its President and its
Legislation, that they might be able to see in time of
peace, and that we shall never go down in defeat.
