October 28, 1914.

Mr. Joseph P. Tumulty
Secretary to the President.
Washington, D. C.

My dear Mr. Tumulty:-

I wish very much that you could arrange for a
Committee of the National Independent Political League,
(colored) to have a brief interview with the President
this week. I believe that Mr. A. J. Peters has already
taken the matter up with you and it is my impression
that Rev. Byron Gunner, the president, is expected to
be in Washington Friday or Saturday of this week. Any
courtesies that you may be able to extend to him will
be appreciated.

Sincerely yours,
Thomas C. Thacher
