My Dear Sir

I earnestly repudiate the
Enclosed article taken from the World
Newspaper of this date, as being an
unwarranted, attack upon the
President. My conversation with the
Bishop one month ago he then said
that he believed the President
was going to do what was right
to the Race. After his desk was
cleared with tariff matters and
other important papers. I am
sorry that the Bishop has not the
concept of his convictions, or any
[?] colored man who cannot
stand a perusal of things in the
political field, it was I who
urged the Bishop in 1884 to come
along with me, and urge a
division of votes of the Race
