Behalf of the transfer of William A. Tarby (colored) from the
position of Asst. Weigher, Port of Boston, to position of Customs Inspector.
Says Tarby wants this transfer because he wishes to be the first
colored inspector appointed in the district. Writer states this
transfer would tend to please the colored people and would be a good
one from both an official and political standpoint.
