who will accept of this challenge from the Black Ulysses? Bend my Bow!
you can rudely cry Nigger, Nigger, Nigger, but when it comes to measuring brains
with brains, these you dirty cowards cry White Superiority, and social
recognition. Pleurisy and pneumonia coupled with fifty years has made
of me a physical weakling, but my brains they are as clear as crystal, as
bright as a diamond and as brilliant as he noon day sun, its radiance is
so brilliant and effective that no D____ Copper Head Rebel can stand even
with its rays. As an intellectual Titanic I am able to clean the Anglo Stable of all
of the Copper Head Rebels this side of Purgatory. There are 100000 Negro men
and women in this country who have forgotten more than which I have ever
dared to know or ever will know still some one must shoulder the mantle
of Ulysses and can carry his Bow, one who is not intellectual coward.
As the thief and the murder, who robs his victim of their wealth and life, so do
you rob this Government of its fair name and murder the bright prospects of
its citizens. You would stay the hand of time, and turn back the clock of
progress, so long that you Copper Head Devils could once more become the
master of soul and body. I dare not say that you are not honest with your
Anglo Saxon brethren but with the Negro you are a set of Devils ready to
Montezuma us on the altar selfishness and prejudice. If there is one
dirty coward among you who reverence the sacred name of a sanity mother
honor the name, your self and your race by meeting the Black Ulysses of the
Negro race in a public debate upon the Negro question. I believe that you are a
brave man. I believe that you are so brave that you would charge right
through a Negro orphan asylum like a hot knife through a pound d butter.
I believe that you are so brave and noble that you would ride rough shod
over a band of blind suffragists. I believe that you are so brave, honest and
courageous that backing a regiment of parol convicts that you would
carry by assault the home of the aged and the infirmed. I believe that you
are so brave, honest and courageous that when it comes to meeting
your equals before your peers that your courage will will like a collar
in a tub of water. America is a great nation growing in wealth and honor
every day. God for some unseen purpose has showered his blessings down
upon us. But the greatest curse that can befall any Country no matter how
much God has blessed the same, is for the Statemen of that Country to be of so
little understanding. the Negro is true. He is honest and no money can
purchase his sincerity, which is the off spring of kindness. The Government
may place great reliance in its [?] its seeming invincible
Army, the vastness of its treasure. These in a measure win wars, but
supporters of the Goverment can not be bought, neither can they be collected
by force of arms. No Nation is so rich, neither is it so powerful, that it
does not need the help, good will and assistance of its meaness citizens
in the hour of its distress. The Negro is loyal so you D___ Copper Head
