President Woodrow Wilson,
The White House,
Washington, D. C.

Dear Mr. President:

I am writing to ask you to favor us with an ex-
pression, however brief, relating to the civic duties of Colored
citizens of the United States, for publication in the columns of
the A. M. E. Review. Our people throughout the nation would sin-
cerely appreciate a message from their President touching any phase
of their relations to this, our common country.

I know that this letter comes to you at a time
when questions of great moment in the affairs of state are claiming
serious consideration, but it may be that you could find relaxation
in writing a few words to a numerous people who would read and pon-
der them seriously. Our magazine, the A. M. E. Church Review, is
the largest and oldest magazine published by Colored people in the
United States. I am sending you a copy under separate cover.

Praying upon you the protection of Almighty God,
with strength and wisdom for your high dutiee, I am,

Most respectfully yours,
Reverdy C. Ransom
