a member of Congress & a Col. in the army. Mr. White
has been also a member of Congress & Speaker of the
House. He fell by his own hand a few years ago
having committed suicide in Richmond, Kenty being
at the time a Circuit Judge. Alber G. Harrison
of Montgomery County, was afterwards Clerk
of the House of Rep. in Missouri & a Representative
in Congress; Charles S. Morehead at present
the Repr. in Congress from the Lexington
District in Kentucky. John Jamison at present

did not graduate until the next year) two
sons of Chancellor Bibb. Judge Bodley at present
of Vicksburg. Richard [Card?], Chartton Hunt & others.
Algernon graduated in 1822, also with considerable
reputation. Thomas was at the time he
graduated & afterwards, a member of several
societies in Lexington. His diploma & other papers
were left in Tallahasee, Florida in 1829 & have
been lost, so that I have never been able to get
them.
Mr. Holly was a member & minister of the Unitarian
Church in Massachusetts at the time
he was appointed President of "Transylvania
University". I think he performed religious services
in the Chapel of the University occasionally.
He was very learned; of surpassing eloquence; his
elocution was the very best I ever heard; his person
uncommonly fine - noble face, almost entirely
ball'd headed - unrivalled for his faculty of
imparting instruction, gay, pleasant, facetious
& witty - dressed elegantly was fond of company
visited the race field, balls, parties, &c. and was
the very life & love of all convivial parties.
