Counsel.

Renfro K. Anderson, was killed in 183 in Carrollton
Perkins County, Ala. in a personal [?] with
Frierson Ey. Anderson had been prosecuted
for the Murder of a Negro woman, hired
to him, by whipping. He was tried & acquitted, tho
no doubt guilty of murder. Mr. Frierson, was
(I think) the Atto. Genl. who conducted the prosecution,
& after the acquittal of Anderson.
sued, that he was guilty of Murder, & ought to have
been convicted & hung. About this time his business
called him to Mississippi, & A. having heard what
he had said, pursued him & followed him for several
years but not overtake or fall in with him
& they both returned to Ala. about the same
time, Frierson residing at Carrollton & A. at [blank]
A. had publickly threatened to kill Frierson
of which he was fortunately notified, and was
upon his guard. A. went to Carrollton, armed
with a pistol or pistols, & accompanied by two
friends, went immediately in the direction of
