exercise a most mischievous influence and to subvert
the order and discipline of this Institution
as also that they are a manifest breach of
the engagement of which all students in
Arts are required to make declaration upon
entering the College, resolved unanimously
that such conduct is deserving of severe
punishment, and that therefore the said
James E Burgess shall not be permitted
to appear at the University examinations
at the close of the present session, and that
he be depraved of the use of the Library for
the remainder of the session.

The Senate having found that
James E Burgess, Robert Crawford, John F. Fraser
Peter L. Livingston, John M Macdonnell,
James Macnee, William Malloy,
William R Muloch and John C. Kerr
including the whole of the third year
students did on Friday last without asking
or obtaining leave and upon a common
understanding, absent themselves from
their classes for the whole day and that
this offence is a marked breach of the discipline
of this College and a violation
of the engagements of which students are required
to make written declaration, resolved
unanimously that each of the said students
be required to pay to the Secretary of the
Senate on or before Monday next a fine of
one dollar each, and should any of the said
students fail to pay this fine at the
time appointed, or should any of them on
any occasion whatsovever, during the rest of
