The Senate met and was constituted.

Williamson, Murray, McKerras and
Mowat.

The minutes of last meeting were read
and approved.

There was read a letter from James E
Burgess in reference to the deliverance of the Senate
at their last meeting respecting his conduct
containing a variety of allegations urged
by him as grounds upon which the Senate
might remit or mitigate the punishment awarded
to him. The Senate having considered
the same and having given Mr. Burgess
full opportunity of stating anything he might
have to say in reference to his letter,
find that there is nothing in the said letter
or statement he has now made to justify
them in removing or modifying in his
favour, the sentence which has been pronounced.
On the contrary, the Senate find
that the letter contains references to acts
which are not charged against him, that
