and agreed to hold Herbert Douglas
Ford and John Jones entitled to the
said degree of Doctor of Medicine so
soon as they shall have attained their
majority. Of these graduates, Messrs
Fenwick, Gibson, and McLean having
obtained 140 out of 150 marks in
three subjects at the written examination
were exempted from the oral examination.

Alma Mater Society
Prize
[/margin]

There was read an extract minute
of the proceedings of the Alma Mater
Society at a special meeting on the 24th
inst. embodying the following resolution:
"Resolved that the Alma Mater Society
of Queen's University offer annually
a prize of the value of twenty dollars
($20) for the best essay on some subject
in connection to students of the graduating
class in Arts". The Senate agreed to
record its cordial appreciation
of the action of the Alma Mater Society,
and to give the prize founded
by the Society the rank of a University
Prize.
