toss them into the air
when they would immedi-
ately return. What
attracted them so
strongly is a mystery.
On our way home, we
gathered a large bo-
quet of Red Lilies
and by the roadside
near Whaler's Pond I
got a plant which
I have not yet ana-
lyzed yet. See July 16th
This P.M. Will & I
took a drive to Lead Mine
Bridge. On the way I
gathered some

Quercus rubra
Asclepias cornuti (Fide A. Gray)

and just before reaching
L.M. Bridge, Will called
my attention to a small
shrub growing in a shady
place by the road in
damp ground. I went to
it and found it was

Sedum latifolium

which I have never seen
growing before. I gathered
some specimens with
fruit and they are now
in press. At the Bridge
I got some flowering
specimens for press of

Ilex verticillata

It has been a most beau-
tiful day with fine sunset.
