In the afternoon we all took [?]
& went to the [hundred?] gods after crossed
the bridge and went to see a regular
Japanese tea house with a little
[?] lake, gardens, stone lanterns. Tea
was served in tiny cups without anything else.
It tastes rather weak and is very pale in
colour. A strange little round sweet is
passed to you and you leave about 10 cents of
our money on the tray as you go away
We went back to the hotel very pleased
with all we had seen. One would
like a month very much. Tomorrow
the party go to Lake Chusenji but as it is
14 miles in a jinrickisha I shall stay
at home and revisit the Temple and see the
exquisite carvings again. Bought
some blue ware to match the drawing
room china & a very handsome bronze
dragon for 25 yens It was a beautiful
piece of bronze. We leave tomorrow morning
for Yokahama. Milly will go with the
Chills to Tokio and we join her on Monday.

Oct.31 - Left at 7:30 for Yokohama, a fine
clear day, the wind blew all night so
heavily that the house seemed to shake.
