at the laying of the corner stone of
the "Southern University," at "University
Place" Franklin county, Tennessee.
on the 10th of this month. Being a
warm friend of the University, wish=
ing it every success and hoping I
may live to see it in a flourishing
condition, equal, if not surpassing
any institution in the Union, Prov=
vidence permitting I expect to be present.
