speedy growth like that of the
gigantic monarchs of the woods
just discovered in California:
trees that excel in majisty, as in
beauty, all{underlined} structures of dead{underlined}
materials: whose sheltering {illegible: any?}
offer comfort & protection to the
thousands that from afar will
espy their lofty tops, towering &
still aspiring heavenwards.

Such, I trust, will be, "the
University of the South": a blessing
not to the South alone but to
our whole {illegible}, God favored
country.
