My dear Bishop,

You have learned
through Dr. Cole{?} that {illegible} has
left Nashotah. I enclose you
a letter from him which to my mind
explains every thing. The young man
had the blues{underlined}. & Dr. C. instead of
trying to cheer him up frightened
him off. -- instead of appealing to
{struckthrough: him} his love of X talks of the in-
jury that would result to the insti-
tution.-- having, as I suppose, little
sympathy with the national infirm-
ities of a man young{underlined} in{underlined} the{underlined} faith{underlined}
who had "given up everything to
follow X" he {illegible: doses?} him allopath-
ically. Had {illegible} had some friend
in whom he had confidence to go
to him at the time he wrote this
letter & put his arms around him
