Rt. Rev. J. H. Otey
Dear Sir,
I am in receipt of your
very kind invitation to attend the
ceremony of October 10th, and have
made every endeavor so to arrange
my business as to enable me to
avail myself of your attention.
But I am unfortunately tied down
to my professional engagements
and am, therefore, reluctantly
forced to forego the pleasure of
being present.
With the assurance of my sincere
sympathy in the great work,
which you are inaugurating, I
am,
Yours respectfully
George A. {illegible: Gordon?}
