Dear Sir,

Yours of the 5th inst has
been rec'd, covering card of information
as to the laying the Corner Stone of the
principal building of the "University
of the South" & also an invitation
to attend that ceremony.

I regret exceedingly my
inability to be present on an
occasion so full of interest &
gratification to every member
of our Church, but the obstacles,
at this juncture existing, to prevent
my leaving home, are insurmountable

Accept my warmest acknowledgments
