third kind is named something like
Lachrymose, which directly effects
the eyes & nose, especially the eyes,
causing tears to flow in streams. About
this time the Germans attack. The
Germans' gas attacks have failed
badly recently, the main danger
to the Allies being that the gas may
be right on them before they are ready,
although we are drilled to be ready
in six seconds. It would not
do for me to explain how we
deal with it as I would be giving
away information I am not supposed
to.

A very slight film of snow
covers the ground to-day, but it will
not stay long. I guess this is quite a
lot of snow in some parts of the
country, especially the higher parts. I
can see snow on the hills between
here and Bramshott when we
have no snow here.
