I A sailor who had nearly reached yon []
and was fast approaching towards deaths door
finding himself very near dissolutuon
Sent for a priest to procure him absolution
II. Says the priest before I absolve you
Can you recollect all the evil you have done
Avast crie the tar your []
for I haven't got breath to relate one half
III So if you please you must lump the whole
and with due penance absolve my soul
on my manifold sins I dont wish to enlarge
But every crime but murder may be laid to my charge
IV. Says the priest then before I absolve you my son
Can you recollect any good you have done
O yes cried the Tar I once converted a Jew
And made him acknowledge the faith to be true
V. He cam on board with his cheating ware
his jewels rich and trinkets rare
But as he was returning to go on shore
He fell overboard with his cheating store
VI I jumped in a boat and caught him as he []
I bade him turn Christian and then Pulled his nose
