By the governor & Lords Deptes with the rest of the [torn]
of state To all persons Greeting In our Lord God everlasting

wheras itt sufficiently apears to us That John Norris of this County deceased
makeing no will, & William Simpson of the sd County apearing before the justic[torn]
of the Lds proprietors peace att Carterett precinct Court, held the 15th of january last
past; pretending himselfe to bee the greatest Creditor to the sd deceased & desiring on [torn]
for administracon on all & every the sd deceaseds estate, which was accordingly [illegible]
wee do therfore in observant to the aforesd order of Court, hereby impower [illegible]
Willm Simpson to administer on all and every the estate both reall & personall of
sd John Norris deceased, & out of the same to satisfie & pay all his just debts [as]
farr forth as the sd estate which shall come to his hands, possession or know[knowledge]
apraised according to Law, to return into the Secretaries' office, & therof to [torn]
comptable att any time when legally required, hee haveing given in securitie [torn]
Tho: Finckley - and himselfe for his so doing, Given under our hands, and ye sea[seals]
of the collony this 5th day of February Ano. Domi 1679

Know all Men by these presents That wee Willm Simpson and Tho: Finc[torn]
both of the County of Albemarle in the province of Carolina planters
bind our selves & either of us joyntly or severally our heirs, Execut[torn]
Administrators to pay or cause to bee well & truely pd unto his Excell[torn]
the pallatine & the rest of the true & absolute Lords & proprietors [torn]
aforesd province of Carolina , or to their heirs & successors the full and [torn]
sume of twenty thousand pounds of good sound Merchantable Tobo. [tobacco] & [torn]
to containe the same; payable upon forfeiture of the condicon herein[torn]
annexed, In witness wherof wee have hereunto sett our hands and [torn]
the twenty fourth day of February 1680/79./

The condicon of this obligacon is such That wheras the above bounden Willm S[torn]
haveing received letters of Administracon upon the estate of Jno. Norris deceased [torn]
shall well & truely perform what therein hee is enjoyned , according to the te[torn]
sd Commission, & shall save & keep the Court harmless & indempnified from
every person or persons that may or shall lay claim to, or pretend interest in [torn]
estate of the sd John Norris deceased, duely executeing & truely performing ye [torn]
of an Administrator to all intents & purposes as therin to him the sd Willm Simps[torn]
granted, that then this present obligacon to bee void & of no effect, Or else to st[torn]
and bee in full Force and vertue:/.
