By the Honouruble Governor and Lords proprietors deputies with ye
Everlasting, Where as it Suffitiently appears unto us that Edmond Chancey of this County deceased left
A will, and the Management thereof, and trust of his sd Estate And Children, Commited to the Care
of Capt Vallentine Bird of this County, who Since is deceased alsoe, And Mrs Margaret Culpeper, ye
Rellict of the Said Bird deceased, haveing for Some Considerable time had the management of the
Estate of the sd Chancey deceased Appeared before us at a grand Councell held the 25th day of march
1680 pretending a Clame as Exceccutrix of the Last will and testament of her deceased husband, &
the Long and Carefull mannagement of the Estate of the sd Chancey deceased, desireing order for
Administration on all and Every the sd deceaseds Estates, which was Accordingly Granted, wee doe
therefore In observance of the Aforesd order of Court, hereby Impower the sd Margaret Culpeper to
to Administer on all and Every the Estate both Reall and personall of the sd Edmond Chancey deceased
and out of the Same, to Sattisfie and pay all his Just dues soe far forth as the sd Estate will Extend or
Amount unto, and A true and Just Inventory of all and every the sd sstate, which did may or Shall Come
to her hands possession or knowledge appraised according to law after Sworne by Sammuell davis Esqr William
Nevell and John Dye apprisers, and the sd apprisement to bee returned to the next Courtt of the Grand
Counsell helld for the County Aforesd, and thereof, and of Every part and persell thereof, to bee accomp
=table at any time when legally thereto Required She giving in Suffitient Securytie by Thomas Gordone

Know all men by these presents that wee Margaret Culpeper Thomas Gordone & Morgan Rice
[crossed out] of the County of albemarle In the province of Carolina doe owe and Stand Justly
Indebted unto his Excellency the pallatine and the Rest of the true and Absolute Lords proprietors
of the province Aforesd There heirs and Successors In the full and Just Sum and Quantetie of two
hundred pounds of Curant lawfull Sterling Money of England to bee well and truly paid upon
Forfeiture of the Condition hereunto annexed, to the which payment well and truly to bee
made and done, wee binde us and every of us Jointly and Severally, our, and Every of our heirs
Exceccutors and Administrators for the whole and In the whole firmly by these presents In witnes
whereof wee have hereunto Set our hands and Seales this [space] day of [space] Anno Dom1680

The Condition of this obligation is Such that whereas the Above bounden Margaret Culpeper
haveing Received Letters of Administration upon the Estate of Edmond Chancey of this County decea
=sed doe and Shall well and truly performe what therein Shee is Injoyned, according to the tenour of
the sd Commission, and Shall save and keep the Court harmless and indempnified, from all and Every
person and persons, that may or Shall Lay Clame too, or pretend Interest In the Said Estate of the
Said Edmund Chancey deceased, duely executeing and truely performing the office of an adminis
=tratrix, to all Intents and purposes, as therein the Law Requires, and to her the sd Margaret Culpeper
is granted, that then this present obligation to bee voide and of none Effect, or Else to stand and
bee of full force Power Effect and vertue
