Cold day with hurricane of wind & showers out of a bright sky.
Worked hard all day & at night had glorious fire in front room & great array of cakes & Mesdames Morgan, Chadwick & Grant in from 8 till 12.
Lord, lord not a breath of mental pabulum or anything interesting from any one of them.
I redded up after them & got to bed before 1 a.m
Arthur in for lemons for his father's cold.
No exercise for the mind is very dulling.
Miss Chadwick brought her autograph album, a commodious vol, full with 50 years' (cont. on opp. page)
