July 1952

Thursday 10

Lovely day.
Pixie telephoned asking me to go to Uni with her at 5 to hear Van Erde [Eerde], Burton and others, peace delegates from China; so I changed my appt with A. Cousins to today & met Davis who is doing jacket for Ten Creeks.
They have a dull thing with Romp as big as Merrylegs & a two-rail sawn fence instead of the stonefences of the text, & no slightest resemblance to Monaro country but let 'em rip.
Who knows or cares but me.
Went to Newsreel & on to Uni.
Glad to meet S. L. MacIndoe again, he was passenger on Monowai when I went to London in 1931.
At A&R. ran into Pixie, M. H. Ellis & saw Roderick for a moment. Home by 7 to bed by 10.

The people that Miles and Pixie went to see could be Rev. G. R. van Eerde and Dr J. W. Burton, who were two of four Australian delegates to a "peace" conference in Beijing. S.L. MacIndoe also went to this conference, according to this newspaper report: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/50315284 (accessed 12/12/2021
