The weather lifted. In afternoon I was dressing to go to bank etc when H. Kinsman came to talk about Douglas Overend. My hair was in a wild mess. What is one to do to be safe from interruptions etc all unaware? Pixie telephoned: had to put her off till later. I was so disrupted I cd neither rest nor write so took to the garden & cleared quite a patch of weeds & put in sunflower seeds. P. wanted to enthuse over Career Goes Bung [previous three words underlined]. Meant to retire early but Mrs M. plumped in & no hints wd. shift her. Such a bore & I was specially listening to the radio.
