My Dear Papa

I have been to
Pompei since I wrote you
last, it is a wonderful sight, to see all the old
ruins and the beautiful
paintings on the walls,
some as bright as if
just done, the ruins

this hotel which is three
quarters of an hours ride
from here.
We are going to
the top of Vesuvius tomorrow.
Mama will stay here as
the trip to Pompeii was too
hard for her dear Papa.
I am so tired I will not
write any more now I will
write you again after I
have been to Vesuvius. I
hope dear Papa you will
come to us soon, we are
very tired of being here
alone without you. Mama
gets dreadful home sick
