Mr Freeman and returned at sunset.

July 25th Cold and cloudy with every appearance
of rain - At 9 went to General Quarters, after which
I went ashore: all my patients recovered but one-
Came on board early and turned in.

July 26th Fine shiney morning, catching any quantity
of small fish - Arrived a small schooner, but no appearance
of the mail which we were all anxious to receive-
At 8 in the morning we saw a light- from a vessel
coming up the River, and in a short-time the mail
came in, bringing me letters from L and Mother.

Sunday July 27th Port of Parana- At 9 went
to Divisions and performed Divine Service. Lennon
received orders to proceed to England on promotion.
Got a letter from Dr Woodcock telling me of the death
of Dr London of the Indefatigable. At 3 PM the Commdr,
Engineers and Gunner dined with us in the gun room.

July 28th - Exercised at gun drill and small arms.
A party went away shooting. Received an invitation
from Mr. Christie to dine tomorrow. Went on shore in
the afternoon but only remained a short time.

July 29th Shifted fore topsail yard, loosed sails,
and went through a variety of evolutions - After
dinner - went ashore and smoked a pipe or two
at Myers, and came off at sunset & turned in-

July 30th At 3 am, a Pampero came in accompanied
by any quantity of lightning and thunder, and
the rain came down in torrents, but by 8 it began to
clear up and eventually turned out to be a fine day.
Preparations going on to receive the distinguished Company,
making accommodation ladders, bending flags
