Thunderstorm in afternoon - cool.
Got down at 10. Said goodbye to Myrtle & gave her a bangle & photo. Mr Martin called to say labor could pull the string on Altgelt [Altgeld] day. Lunch at Hearth alone. Came home at 3 o'clock and slept. Had a bath & went to dinner at Lincoln Pkway. Saw Dr F passing. Worked a little but very weak & dispirited.

(Trs next pp. according to date as I made a mistake & skipped a page)

Monday [15 written over 8]
Beastly cold day with wild wind. Went to Dr Miller at 1. He began work & gave me an estimate of $190/100 dollars on the job. Then traipsed around the Auditorium with Miss Henry. Dinner alone at Hearth & walked home. Mrs Gilman invited Miss H. Marjery Curry & me to ['dinner' crossed out] lunch on Tues
