Friday 9. Oct. 1914 [written over Saturday 10] trs
Very miserable day tried to rest & couldn't. Did nothing either profitable or unprofitable. Lay on bed & read magazine stories all afternoon. Had to resort to veranal at midnight. Just worn out for want of sleep. Lovely warm day

Sunday 11
Went to church with the girls & then Mrs Black took a party of us to dinner at Garrison Hall Then I came home & slept thank God. Then Aileen & Geraldine took me for a walk we had dinner. A company of Australians called & talked - Edith Malyon, Nancy etc. Lovely summer day.

Monday 12
Another gorgeous summer day. With the exception of going to lunch with the girls kept the house all day. Had an hour's lovely sleep in afternoon - gave me a much better feeling. Wrote letters in the evening.
