Turned cold. Lunch at French place then the girls & I walked down town via library & bought a few things. I pottered again & rested - wrote a letter or two & read magazine stuff. Demmy called up & invited me out tomorrow.

Wednesday 14
Demi came at 2.45 & gave me an hour's dancing lesson at the Carlton. Afterwards we went driving to Milford Deadham [Dedham] Attelboro [Attleboro] etc & went to the Crown at Providence R.I. for dinner. Then to a place (Rhodes) for dancing. Then back to Newman's for supper & started home. D. had too many cocktails (8) & champagne (2 bottles) & was highly dangerous. We didn't get home till nearly four. He was desperate & brutal in an unprecedented degree when drunk. Escaped death or tragedy by v. small margin.

Thursday 15
Very tired. The girls & I had lunch at place on Huntington Ave. Nancy & S.P. took me to automobile show & then to afternoon tea. I was v. sleepy so went home to bed. D called up & wanted to take me to tea & for a drive but I refused. Went to bed early. Lovely warm day again. Too hot for coat of suit.
