Ethel & I had lunch with Editha at the Hearth. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by the prospects but they'll come all right. Dinner at Hearth alone & walked home. Began to type the story I wrote in Boston. Went to bed at 10.

Thursday 19
V. cold. Editha brough[t] Rosika Shwimmer to office & she Miss H. & I went to lunch at Carson Pirie & then Mdme S. Editha & I went to Art Museum. In evening Pischels & Miss H., E.P. & I met at Hearth & we went to Schwimmer lecture in Fullerton Hall. Made me full of melancholy. Went to Dr Miller to have my teeth mended.

Friday 20
V. depressed. Feeling as if I couldn't live on acct. of war. Went to bank & p.o. Worked. Dinner at Hearth with Miss Henry. Work [previous word crossed out] Walked home & worked on story. Dear Miss Browne came in to see me during the afternoon. Went to Dr Miller about my teeth.
