My Dear Sir
I just write these few lines
to state that should you not see me before this comes
to hand you may expect my arrival every day

Our passage has hitherto been extremely
[Indecipherable] having now been 5 months from Port Jackson
and instead of being there we fully expected to have
been in England (word crossed out) we intended going round Cape
Horn but off the South end of New Zealand found
a leak under the stern (word crossed out) which has brought
us hither for repairs - I have some [Indecipherable] Bills
to the amount of (pounds)700 -
& on board for you but do not send them be-
cause if we are at all successful we shall be
in England before the [Indecipherable] My Father has
shipped 12 Bales of wool, on board the Lord
Melville (insert Capt Wethervale) consigned to you we understand she
has been there & gone on to India to fill
